Primary nature of the work is experimentally simulating the changes in surface properties of asteroids and airless planetary bodies (e.g. Moon, Mercury) due to interaction of solar wind ions and dust particles. The changes in optical, chemical and mineralogical properties of the materials after the simulation will be studied using IR- and Raman spectroscopy followed by electron microscopy. QUALIFICATION: Minimum of 60% marks or equivalent GPA in Masters or M.Tech. or M.E in Physics/Astronomy and Astrophysics / Geology/Geophysics/ Earth Science/ Chemistry with a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or equivalent. DESIRABLE: Knowledge in Spectroscopy/Physical-chemistry/Mineralogy/electron microscopy Deadline: 18th March, 2025 (the application as given in the advt, with required documents, CV, with 1-2 reference letters; Reference letters must be sent by the referee, not by the candidate) The position will be initially offered for 10 months and extendable after satisfactory performance.
